Just had to share this gem of a morning experience:
I'm walking out of the subway, and a guy is climbing the stairs right next to me. He looks at me, and says, "ooh, it's cold out."
"Uh huh," I say as I keep walking up the stairs.
"Damn, you looking gorgeous," he says. "Mmm hmmm. And, look at that, you're not married."
I ignore him.
"Girl, can I walk with you?" he asks as we get outside.
"No."
"Bitch."
Well, ok, then!

As I was deciding which of your last eight posts I should comment on (Eight posts! I missed eight posts - I'm a delinquent blog reader, what can I say?), I came upon this one and knew it was the one. The crap guys on the street in NYC will say to women in unbelievable. I don't think street harassment exists anywhere else in the US like it does in New York. Hello, think skin. I'm sure yours is growing thicker by the day.
And a happy belated birthday to you. Looks like you celebrated well.
no worries; i'm a delinquent blog poster!
yup, skin is growing thicker, but at the same time, i'm letting myself be a bit more open to things here. the people, the situations, the harassment even. i've realized you have let things roll off you because if you put on blinders too much, you miss a lot of the good stuff.
happy belated to you, too. glad you celebrated well!
